Thermo Fisher Scientific in Eindhoven is a global center of excellence for electron microscopy, rooted in more than 75 years of innovation. From pioneering high-end Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM) to supporting Nobel Prize–winning research, our technologies help scientists see and understand the world at the scale of atoms.
At our Eindhoven site, the largest Thermo Fisher location in the Netherlands, more than 1,300 colleagues from over 45 nationalities work side by side. Here, we bring together the full electron microscopy ecosystem: research and development, manufacturing, operations, NanoPort Electron Microscopy Center Of Excellence, services, and marketing & sales. This unique combination allows ideas to move quickly from fundamental research to real-world impact.
What is a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)?
A TEM uses a beam of electrons instead of light to image materials and biological samples at extremely high resolution, down to individual atoms. To put it into perspective: it’s like recognizing a butterfly on the moon. These microscopes are essential tools in universities, research institutes, and industry worldwide.
Our microscopes play a vital role in addressing some of society’s biggest challenges. They support research into diseases such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes, cancer, and emerging viruses like SARS. They enable breakthroughs in semiconductor technology, helping make smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient devices. And they contribute to sustainable innovation, for example by advancing next-generation batteries and cleaner energy solutions.
As part of Thermo Fisher, our Mission is clear: to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. We do this in close collaboration with academic researchers and industrial partners across the globe.
At the center of everything we do is our focus on people. In Eindhoven, you’ll find an informal, international, and human work culture, with strong attention to personal development. Whether your ambition lies in science, engineering, data, operations, or leadership, we offer multiple career paths and the opportunity to grow, both professionally and personally.
At Thermo Fisher in Eindhoven, you don’t just study or build technology. You help shape the future of science.
