The ODIN member lunch is an opportunity to talk with your peers in the Connected World field, while enjoying a nice sandwich that you can create yourself. Non-members are also allowed to join. The price for members is € 1,50, for non-members it is €2,50.

CERN lunchlecture

CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) is the world’s largest particle physics laboratory, located near Geneva, Switzerland. It operates the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a massive underground particle accelerator. CERN explores the nature of the universe by probing the smallest components of matter.
The set-up of this lunch lecture is unique, since it is organised together with Thor and Simon Stevin, so you can discuss with friends from other associations as well.

This activity accounts for one Myfuture point. You need 7 Myfuture points to finish your bachelor.

The first 120 people are able to show up to the event the remaining 20 people are in the waiting list and will get priority if someone unsubscribes.

Tappersopdracht Fintan: "Chihuahua Mr. Worldwide"

Life is not a waste of time and time is not a waste of life. So let's stop wasting time and have the time of our life at my Tappersopdracht on the 2nd of October at Het Walhalla! As you might know I am an international, some even call me Mr. Worldwide. I am an American-Canadian citizen and was born in the heart of Germany, Berlin, so having blonde hair, blue eyes, and being white has helped me get to the place I am in today. I lived in Germany for 17 long years where I learned to follow orders and drink beer. I then moved to Bangkok, where I sadly did not bang any cock, man or woman’s. Everywhere I go, there are new stereotypes that are hurtful, this is not okay and it must stop! I would like to invite you to join me on a quest for internationalization and to put an end to stereotypes! For everyone going through tough times, believe me, been there, done that, but that will all change if you help me fight against prejudice and put an end to hate!

The kandis have faced many difficulties over the past months. As the switch GMM gets closer, there is only one final challenge to face, reaching the Board table. Of course, not everyone loves the kandis, the Oude Bokken will do everything in their power to stop the kandis from reaching the Board table unprepared. In an epic final battle, the kandis must convince the Oude Bokken that they are worthy of sitting at the Board table. We, the kandis, hope we have what it takes to make it to the Board table and we hope that you will be there to witness an epic final boss fight!

Ivaldi Interest Lunch

Do you want to organize a super fun activity like a pub quiz, casino night, or the Open House Day? Are you a first-year interested in becoming active in Thor? Then you should come to the Ivaldi interest lunch! The Ivaldi committee is a first-year committee that organizes a wide variety of fun activities. It takes up very little time, so you can combine it with your studies well. At the interest lunch you will learn more about the fun things you can do with this committee while you get free lunch! You can still show up even if you didn't subscribe. Subscribing helps us give an estimate of the amount of food we need to get. And subscribing to this lunch doesn't mean you are subscribed to Ivaldi :)

First-years Weekend 2024

This year Thor will again organize the most amazing weekend of your study time! On the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of September Thor will organize the first-year weekend full of fun activities. This is your chance to get to know all your fellow first-year students and the study association Thor!

The weekend will start at our own local heaven, Het Walhalla, at 16:30 on Friday the 20th of September. That Friday you can drop off your baggage before 13:00 if you don't want to take it with you on the bike yourself. A packing list will follow later once you have subscribed.

You can enroll for this weekend by filling out your details below. If you have any questions regarding the weekend, please do not hesitate to contact the organization at thew@thor.edu. This weekend will cost €37,50 euros. If you enroll, you are expected to show up for the weekend and pay the participation fee. If you end up not being able to come, you can send an email to thew@thor.edu before Tuesday the 17th of September at 12:00. If you unsubscribe before this deadline you don't have to pay the fee. You can pay with iDeal via the webform below, or in the Board room when the academic year has started.

IoT workshop

September 19th, Volundr will organize the Internet of Things workshop where we will give a in-depth IoT tutorial with the use of the ESP8266. The ESP is a versatile MCU with build in Wi-Fi capabilities. It is gaining popularity over the Arduino in recent years and is often used in hobby projects such as like home automation, controlling LED’s from a distance, or any other projects which needs wireless communication. For programming we will use the Arduino IDE.

During the workshop you can buy an ESP8266 for 2 euro, but if you already own one you can join the workshop for free! This controller is the same as the one provided during the business case at the introduction week.
